چکیده

Polymer melts are highly-viscous non-Newtonian fluids. The manufacture of an article from polymer involves heating, shaping and cooling processes. The rheology of the polymer melt is considered to be one of the most important factors in determining the properties of a polymer product, the properties being related to the flow and deformation of the fluid particles in the processing equipment. The flows occurring are complex due to the design of the equipment and the pressure and temperature that occur. Attempts to investigate the flow problems are very often limited by the complex geometry of the processing equipment.

Real-time acoustic tomography system and the experience of Caspian current sea monitoring

The Acoustic Tomography (AT) systems are used to monitor long-term and continuous flow in rivers, seas and oceans. One of the disadvantages of existing systems in Iran is the inability of real-time/automated measurements. In this study, by adding a raspberry Pi computer to the system and performing the required programming, it was possible to do online monitoring. The data are transferred to th...

Small field size dose-profile measurements: A comparison between Eclipse™ treatment planning system with NIPAM polymer gel dosimeter dose measurement

Introduction: Three physical conditions caused an external beam designated as a small field. The first is the loss of lateral charged particle equilibrium. The second is the effect of collimators on the primary photon source occlusion. The third condition is the size of the detector which is large compared to the field size. The most obvious perturbation effects in last condit...

Evaluation of underwater acoustic propagation model (Ray theory) in a river using Fluvial Acoustic Tomography System

Underwater acoustics is widely used in many applications, such as oceanography, marine biology, hydrography, fishery, etc. Different models are introduced to simulate the underwater acoustic propagation in the oceans and the seas. In this study, the Ray Theory model is used to simulate the acoustic wave propagation in a shallow-freshwater river (Gono River) located in western part of Japan. The...

Experimental evaluation of thermal stability of PS- MWCNT nanocomposite as a real-time dosimeter

Introduction: Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are ideal reinforcing fillers for a polymer matrix, because of their nanometer size, high aspect ratio and, more importantly, their excellent mechanical strength, and electrical and thermal conductivity. The CNTs are categorized into two groups: SWCNT and MWCNT. MWCNTs would have diameters ranging from 2 to 100 nm and lengths of up to tens ...

Design and Evaluation of a Pressure and Temperature Monitoring System for Pressure Ulcer Prevention

Introduction Pressure ulcers are tissue damages resulting from blood flow restriction, which occurs when the tissue is exposed to high pressure for a long period of time. These painful sores are common in patients and elderly, who spend extended periods of time in bed or wheelchair. In this study, a continuous pressure and temperature monitoring system was developed for pressure ulcer preventio...
